About This Ford Thunderbird
The First Generation Of The Ford Thunderbird Is A Two-Seat Convertible Produced By Ford For The 1955 To 1957 Model Year. For The 1957 Model, The Front Bumper Was Reshaped, The Grille And Tailfins Were Made Larger, And Larger Taillights Were Fitted. The Side "Thunderbird" Script Moved From The Fins To The Front Fenders. A Longer Rear Section Provided Improved Storage Space.
The Thunderbird was a revolutionary introduction by Ford Motor Company during its initial seasons as a two-door “personal luxury” vehicle, and 1957 is sometimes considered the pinnacle of this design. From the porthole hardtop roof to the angled tailfins, few cars could equal it in terms of class and appeal that model year, and this gorgeous example is no exception. Rumored to have been influenced by Henry Ford II's personal 1952 Ferrari 212/225 Barchetta and cleverly marketed as a “Mink Coat for Father,” the Thunderbird immediately denoted a level of sophistication for those who wanted to be conspicuous and was indeed one of the ultimate “accessories” for its well-heeled owner, male or female.
